In a capacitive load
current lead voltage by 90 degree and in Inductive load voltage lead current by
90 degree. Combined together and driven by a PULSE, you can have resonant
circuit.
To improve power consumption , you can
reduce the power factor by using capacitance in a inductive load and
vice-versa. SO it depend on load.
In power system to be
efficient you need to stay b/w 1(unity) and 0.95 leading this gives a higher
efficiency and less reactive power Kvar
It is balance to correct
load , to reduce lag add some resistive load.
